Around 25 minutes later, the victim was attempting to enter a taxi on Lower Briggate when he was pushed into a close-by ginnel by Lee who punched him to the head a number of times.
The 21-year-old then kicked the victim in the head, leaving him with a bruised face and believed broken nose which later on needed surgery.
Judge Neil Clark explained the attack in the ginnel as ‘unprovoked’.
The court was told that Lee, of Leeds Road at Methley, had lost his job as a doorman as a result of the offence and his relationship had actually also ended.
A probation officer told the court that Lee has actually experienced trauma given that he was positioned in care as a child and had taken an overdose last year.
He had actually admitted a charge of triggering actual physical damage on the first day of his trial.
Imprisoning him for 16 months, the judge said CCTV footage of the attack in the ginnel revealed the victim had attempted to escape and had revealed no resistance.
“Whatever may have occurred earlier, you faced him, pulled him into an alley so you could not be seen.
“He was clearly attempting to leave the alley. You began to throw punches to his head. He provided no resistance, either since he was passing out or since he was too intoxicated to resist.”
The judge stated the usage of a ‘shod foot’ to kick his victim amounted to the use of a weapon.
“I accept there was earlier provocation however that suggests this is a vengeance attack. I need to remember the problems in your childhood and that you triggered damage to yourself in your distress.”
